The Student Council of MNWC is one of the most dynamic and active committees in the college. It comprises a group of elected class representatives (CR’s) working under the guidance and supervision of teachers. The Council is primarily meant to provide the students a forum for expression and for introduction to leadership in all spheres of student life.

The Student Council works with the following objectives:

  1. To promote a sense of democratic functioning for self and all students
  2. To inculcate a sense of initiative, pride and belongingness to the institution
  3. To develop a sense of personal responsibility towards the institution and the community at large
  4. To provide the students with the power to speak and be heard by those in authority on matters related to student and community well-being
  5. To create harmonious relationships between the student body, faculty, administrative staff and management
  6. To develop leadership in academic and non-academic settings
  7. To promote an awareness of systems, structures and functioning in all areas of academic life
  8. To identify, develop and promote talent in cultural and extra-curricular aspects and promote growth beyond academics
  9. To create a cohesive unit of student power that can create a dynamic synergy between the institution and all the associated stake-holders
  10. To involve students in key – decision making areas and thereby have their representation in participatory management systems of the institution

The Student Council committee of Maniben Nanavati Women’s College conduct the elections for the Office Bearers for the Student Representatives
The Election process starts with electing Class Representatives for each Class right from FY to TY and PG sections. The students enthusiastically participate and their class cast votes for their respective candidates. The Elected Candidates then stand for the Elections of President, Vice President and Secretary.
The TY Class representatives nominate themselves for the President and Vice President post. An election campaign is conducted and nominated candidates introduce themselves to the other students and their fellow class representatives. The CR’s of senior college then cast their votes for the most eligible candidates based on pass record and election campaign.
2020 has taught us a new Normal and hence the elections were conducted online. Campaign videos were circulated on the class groups and the CR groups. Polling was conducted online and office bearers were successfully selected for the academic year 2020-2021.
