Established in 1972, the department of Hindi has been a pioneer department of Maniben Nanavati Women’s College, Mumbai. Right from inception, it was headed by Dr. Pragnya Shukla. She did many activities in multiple spheres during her long tenure of 37 years. She was superannuated in 2008.
Dr. Ravindra Katyayan took over the charge of Hindi Department in 2009. He rose the Department of Hindi to further heights. He did many national and international seminars, conferences, workshops in collaboration with ICSSR, NCPSL, CHD, MSHSA, and many others. He did international and National MOU’s with Guang Dong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), China, Shenzhen University, China, Udayana University, Bali, Lincoln University, Malaysia, Global Hindi Foundation, Singapore, Shri Mallikarjun College, Canacona, Goa and Yatha Katha Film and Literature Festival, Mumbai and did many activities and Conferences in China, Indonesia, Cambodia, and India.
Objectives
- To introduce to learners the rich tradition and treasure of Hindi, the National Language and its literature
- To make the students develop good communication skills in Hindi
- To strengthen the Discipline Component (DC) subject of the learners by exposing them to the need of Hindi as a language of importance in almost all the spheres of their careers
